Application: Surge (Shock) Immunity tests simulate lightning strikes (indirect lightning) in nature and the effects of voltage changes on the supply and communication lines caused by large switching in the supply line.
 
Test Principle: 

The surge test specifies two waveforms (1.2 / 50μs and communication waves of 8/20μs) with an amplitude of 0.5kV to 4kV.
