The power battery system is a system that is closely integrated with the hardware body and the control system. The test can be roughly divided into two parts: battery pack body (Pack) test and battery management system (BMS) test. The test conditions of these two parts are introduced respectively as follows:
Battery Pack Body (Pack) Test
The battery pack body test is generally carried out in the DV/PV (design verification/production verification) stage. The purpose is to verify whether the design/production of the battery pack meets the design requirements. It includes temperature test, mechanical test, external environment simulation test, low voltage electrical test, electromagnetic compatibility test, electrical safety test, battery performance test, abuse test and so on.
1) (Immersion Testing Machine) salt water immersion: 5% salt water for a long time immersion test, the battery function is normal. At present, the recommended waterproof and dustproof level of new energy vehicle battery packs is IP67 (that is, no damage after soaking in water at a depth of 1 meter for half an hour, and the battery packs of SAIC and NIO are all IP67).
2) (Battery Cell Projectile Fire Exposure Test Equipment) External fire: 590°C fire lasts 130s, the battery does not explode, catch fire, burn and there is no flame remaining.
Battery Management System (BMS) Testing
The test of the battery management system focuses more on software testing, which is generally carried out during the software function development process.
Electric Vehicle Durability Test
The more tests are carried out in various extreme environments such as extreme cold, high temperature, and high humidity, the more fully the function, performance, and durability of components can be verified. The earlier problems are found, and the cost of repairing them is lower.
1. High And Low Temperature Environmental Test Chamber, Ice Water Splash Test Equipment: Low temperature durability test, these equipment mainly test the cold start performance. The battery pack's low-temperature charge and discharge capability, low-temperature protection strategy, and battery pack heating function will all be assessed in this test.
2. Walk-in Environmental chamber: High temperature durability test. This equipment mainly tests the charging and discharging ability of the battery pack at high temperature, the cooling function of the battery pack and the overheating protection strategy.
3. Salt spray chamber: High temperature + high humidity environment durability test. This equipment can simulate the seawater environment, accelerate the corrosion of parts, and the durability of parts will be strictly tested.
