The Multiple Portable Socket-outlets Mechanical Strength Test Apparatus is designed to evaluate the mechanical strength of rewirable plugs and vehicle connectors fitted with flexible cables. It supports mechanical testing procedures specified in relevant IEC standards for electrical accessories and EV charging connectors.
During testing, the specimen is released from a specified height and allowed to fall onto a concrete floor. Repeated impacts, combined with 45° cable rotation between successive drops, help assess the specimen's mechanical integrity and resistance to damage under the prescribed test conditions.
With two adjustable test heights of 750 mm and 1,000 mm, this apparatus supports different test configurations for applicable IEC 60884-1 and IEC 62196 requirements. It is suitable for electrical safety laboratories, EV charging connector manufacturers, and quality inspection facilities.
Multi-standard application: Designed for relevant mechanical strength test procedures specified in IEC 60884-1 and IEC 62196.
Adjustable test height: Supports 750 mm and 1,000 mm drop heights.
Controlled cable orientation: Enables 45° rotation of the flexible cable at its fixing point between successive drops.
Repeated impact testing: Supports an eight-drop test sequence according to the applicable test procedure.
Concrete-floor testing: Allows assessment of specimen integrity after repeated impacts.
Laboratory and quality control use: Suitable for electrical accessory manufacturers, EV connector producers, and product testing laboratories.
The specimen is held with its flexible cable horizontal, with the free end secured to a fixing point 750 mm above the floor. The specimen is then released and allowed to fall onto a concrete floor.
The procedure is repeated eight times. After each fall, the cable is rotated by 45° at the fixing point. After completion, the specimen is inspected for damage, loose components, or detached parts in accordance with the applicable acceptance criteria.
The flexible cable, together with an additional rope or another suitable flexible extension where required, is fixed to a wall 1,000 mm above the floor. The combined length is 2.25 m, as specified in the supplied test procedure.
The specimen is positioned with the cable horizontal and released to fall onto a concrete floor. The test is repeated eight times, with the cable rotated by 45° at its fixing point between successive drops.
The specimen is then inspected according to the applicable requirements of the relevant IEC 62196 standard.
